| Southern Plains Texas Although Texas had several Indian casinos in the early 2000s, two were closed after legal disagreements with the state. The remaining Texas Indian casino, the 24-hour Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino located at Eagle Pass in the central part of the state near the Mexican border, offers blackjack, bingo, poker, and pull tab machines. In the blackjack games the gambler must pay a 50-cent commission to the house for every $25 bet. One must be at least 21 years old to gamble. Casino Boat There is a single casino boat in the state. The 1,200-passenger Texas Treasure is based in Aransas Pass, about 10 miles northeast of Corpus Christi. The boat sails nine miles out into the Gulf of Mexico into international waters where casino gambling is permitted. Games offered include blackjack, roulette, poker, and craps. Video poker is also available. One must be at least 21 years old to board. Oklahoma The electronic video gaming machines at Oklahoma’s Indian casinos resemble slot machines, but are in fact bingo games; the spinning video reels on the machines are for “entertainment purposes only.” High-stakes bingo and video pull tabs are available at some casinos. Alcohol Not Available in All Oklahoma Casinos Only some of the casinos in Oklahoma serve alcoholic beverages. Most are open 24 hours. One must be at least 18 years old to gamble in the state. New Mexico There are more than 15 Indian casinos in New Mexico, all of which have a variety of table games and electronic gaming machines. The state also permits slot machines at racetracks. Additionally, about 40 fraternal and veterans clubs around the state also have slot machines. Although some of the New Mexico Indian casinos are open 24 hours, many are open 24 hours only on weekends. Games offered include blackjack, roulette, craps, video poker and video slots.
